Sumak Kawsay

By Cristián Morales Estay

The 'pueblos' from Latin America have many lessons for us, coming from their ancestral worldview. In those lessons, the concept of "buen vivir" or good living is a motto for many indigenous cultures from the Americas.
In the Andean south American world, it is known as Sumak Kawsay. The Bolivian Aymaras, know it as Suma Qamaña. These series of portraits are the responses that I found in my travels through different territories searching for the answer to "What's the meaning of ´buen vivir´?". It is also an invitation to reflect that other worlds are possible, worlds harmonious with solidarity and nature.
