Grey Natural Fibers Rug

This rug is a heritage from the Zapotecs culture, made from scratch, in Teotitlan del Valle Oaxaca, a small town that has been passing this technique from generation to generation. Artisans prepare the wool by washing the fibers and beating it with rods of yagalan, a very strong wood from the trees in the region, then they colored the wool using a special blend of natural dyes made from plants, insects and minerals.
