Crave bowl blue
A small group of artisans makes this Decorated bowl blue in Michoacan, Mexico. Barro bruñido was a technique used by the Mayan civilization that was lost for many years and “Don José” recently rediscovered.The elaboration consists in selecting the right mus and shaping the piece, let it dry, is rubbed with a river stone, and colored with natural paint extracted directly from natural oxides and fired between 500-700°C, the temperature gives the color. For them, creating the pottery is not just a livelihood; it is their inheritance. They are dedicated not only to their work, but to the preservation and continuance of traditional Mexican prehispanic ceramic. Usually, these designs are wild and full of expression.
