This mysterious finishing is unique from the Tonaltepec community, Oaxaca. It’s done with natural pigments. Tonaltepec is one of the few places that still use natural dyes. The finishing and shape may vary because of the handmade process. It is normal that mud “sweats” at the beginning. If this happens, you can “cure” the item by dipping it in water with salt for 24 hours. Let’s support the Cortes and Cruz family that gives life to these beautiful items. H 4, W 4.5 in.
