Black Pottery

Black clay is a style of pottery from San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca, Mexico, characterized by its color, authenticity and unique designs.

Oaxaca is one of the Mexican states that conserve its ancestral crafts and still use it in everyday life. The unique properties of this region’s clay cannot be found anywhere else. Each piece is made and cut by hand and baked in a fire of thick black smoke for about 20 days to create its unique color.
